Hollardops mesocristata (formerly known as Metacanthina) is a magnificent trilobite from the Middle Devonian. Hollardops lived on the ocean floor, which is now part of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Hollardops is renowned for its big semi-circular eyes containing multiple schizochroal eye lenses.
The trilobite in this specimen is in a partial flight position and is 3.0inches long (if flattened) and 1.45 inches wide. Trilobite and matrix measure 3 by 2.65 by 1.55 inches. The lenses in both are eyes are extremely well-preserved and have been carefully prepped out. There is a repair running across the mid-thorax.
